Job Summary

This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Office of General Counsel. The selected candidate will serve as a key member of the USTR team, providing legal advice and guidance on trade policy matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement trade policy initiatives, including negotiating trade agreements and advising on trade-related legislation.
  • Provide legal counsel to the USTR and other senior officials on trade-related matters, including international trade agreements and domestic trade laws.
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Office of General Counsel, including supervising staff and developing policies and procedures.
  • Represent the USTR in international trade negotiations and meetings, and engage with foreign governments and international organizations on trade-related issues.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
  • Must have a J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be a member in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico bar.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in trade law and policy, including experience in international trade negotiations and trade-related legislation.
Working Conditions

The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel required to attend international trade negotiations and meetings. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex trade policy issues to senior officials and the public.
