Job Summary

Manor Tool is seeking a skilled Maintenance Apprentice to join our team in Schiller Park, IL. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will assist the Maintenance Manager with facility maintenance, preventive maintenance repairs, improvements, and metal fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in safety, quality, and housekeeping programs to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain performance standards, quality standards, good attendance record, and a positive attitude.
  • Perform cleanup duties at workstations and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to resolve work-related issues.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Act decisively and show a strong sense of urgency to ensure follow-through on established goals.
  • Identify opportunities to increase personal skill level, departmental process, and product quality.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including mission, safety, and attendance requirements.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Operation of machine tools, such as drill presses, mills, grinders, lathes, and powered hand tools.
  • Ability to pass company ISO, English, Safety, and Math tests.
  • Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US.
  • Must be drug and alcohol-free.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must read, write, and speak English.
  • Must understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group and meet targets.
  • Must perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must have basic knowledge of punch presses, construction, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Must read and understand schematics.
  • Must be able to think and work under pressure and analyze information to identify solutions.
  • Must have and execute with a sense of urgency.
  • MiG/Tig welding a plus.
Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Stamina to work all assigned hours.
  • 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
  • Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.
  • Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or twist 50% of the workday.
  • Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift, or carry 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment with continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils, and solvents.
