Available Shifts:

Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm (Full-Time)

Friday-Monday 7am-3:30pm (Full-Time)

Saturday - Monday 3pm-11:30pm (Part-Time)

Compensation:

$18.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment within specialized areas such as surgical services and recovery units. This position is vital for implementing effective cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance practices to minimize harmful pathogens, ensuring the well-being of patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.

Key Duties Include:

  • Executing cleaning and disinfection protocols for specialized units and equipment, including but not limited to Surgical Services and Recovery Areas.
  • Applying knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards, safe chemical usage, and proper equipment handling to maintain a pristine environment.
  • Complying with all safety, risk management, and infection control policies while fostering a culture of safety.
  • Maintaining accurate logs and checklists to ensure compliance with cleaning protocols.
  • Performing cleaning and disinfection tasks in accordance with established procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Understanding the specific cleaning requirements for sensitive healthcare environments.
  • Staying informed about training and education related to evidence-based cleaning practices as recommended by relevant healthcare organizations.
  • Organizing and replenishing supplies on the environmental services cart to ensure efficiency.
  • Managing waste disposal by identifying and segregating waste streams appropriately.
  • Adhering to infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Respecting patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Exhibiting personal accountability in all job functions.
  • Utilizing appropriate resources to address and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of facility safety protocols.
  • Effectively operating and maintaining all necessary cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Assisting in the training of new Environmental Services Technicians as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare environmental services is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to differentiate between levels of disinfection and perform necessary cleaning tasks.
  • Proficient in communicating cleaning procedures both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and write in English at a 6th-9th grade level is preferred.
  • Exhibiting respectful listening and communication skills with colleagues.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Physical examination.
  • PPD (TB test).
  • Blood tests for immunity to specific diseases.
  • COVID vaccination is mandatory.
  • Flu vaccination is required.
