Energy and Utilities Program Manager

Pioneer Management Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Energy and Utilities Program Manager to join our team. As a Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of project managers and other staff in the day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations/management, field staff and other duties required to plan and execute a portfolio of General Contract (GC) or Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in portfolio, program, and project management, ideally within the utilities industry and electrical transmission. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide program management oversight, including managing multiple project teams, portfolio roadmaps, executive reporting and overall portfolio progress.
- Be assigned as Project Manager to lead specific key projects within the portfolio from initiation through close-out activities, including managing scope according to technical contracts, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules to ensure successful projects across portfolio.
- Promote, monitor, and facilitate program performance data analysis and insights for all projects, programs, and/or portfolios executed within team.
- Hire, coach, train and manager project managers and other team members for growth and development opportunities.
- Actively manage team resource planning and workload.
- Responsible for project financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and hiring.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required (master's preferred).
- Extensive experience in portfolio, program, and project management, ideally within the utilities industry and electrical transmission.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience managing people within a PMO or program setting.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and project controls methodologies.
- PMP Certification and OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred.
- Comfort handling ambiguity and managing multiple assignments.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively expand professional networks through strategic relationship building and engagement.
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to do what it takes to deliver excellent work product and customer experiences.
- Ability to commute to various clients and construction sites in the Denver metropolitan area.
Benefits
The estimated salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on factors such as skillset and experience. Bonuses and other incentives are awarded based on individual contributions and overall company performance.
