Job Summary:

As a Clinical Dietitian, you will play a vital role in assessing, developing, and implementing comprehensive nutrition care services for patients. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to plan, develop, and provide nutrition information through educational programs and materials. Your expertise will be essential in developing and implementing department programs, policies, and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate nutritional care plans based on patient needs, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Counsel individuals and families on nutritional principles, dietary plans, and food selection, adapting plans to meet individual needs and cultural eating habits.
  • Plan and evaluate menus to meet patients' nutritional needs, considering food preferences and cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate nutritional care data through record systems, including Medical Records and Dietary Information Records.
  • Provide consultation to medical teams on diet prescriptions, nutritional assessments, and enteral and parental feedings.
  • Participate in discharge planning, recommending home care nutritional needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in dietetics, attending workshops, seminars, and lectures to maintain professional registration.
  • Develop and implement ongoing patient food quality surveys to maintain quality standards of care.
  • Design and conduct orientation and in-service education/training programs for staff and food service personnel.
  • Compile and disseminate nutrition educational materials, including diet instruction handouts, posters, and newsletter articles.
  • Oversee dietary personnel to ensure compliance with food production, service, sanitation, safety, security, and health regulations.
  • Assist in developing and updating work schedules and job descriptions for food service personnel.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-range departmental goals and objectives aligned with departmental and organizational policies.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Six months of related experience or successful completion of a training program in the area of specialty, if applicable.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in food and nutritional sciences or a related field.
  • Accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) by the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
License, Certification, Registration:
  • CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers required at hire or Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • Registered Dietitian from the American Dietetic Association.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to effectively use resources for research.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in interpersonal relations, customer service, problem-solving, adaptability, decision-making, oral communication, and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of experience as a clinical dietitian.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.
  • State of Hawaii License Dietitian (LD).
  • Masters degree with an ADA-approved internship program.
