The Student Achievement Mentor position at Metropolitan Ministries, Inc. plays a vital role in fostering academic success among students. This AmeriCorps member will provide personalized support, mentorship, and tutoring to help students achieve their educational goals.

As an Academic Success Coach, the ideal candidate will have an Associate degree in education or a related field, along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse participants. The position involves working 25-30 hours per week, primarily in the afternoons, with some flexibility during school summer months.

About the Role:

This position requires a caring and non-judgmental individual who can listen well and demonstrate confidentiality and respect for clients from all backgrounds. Bi-lingual candidates are preferred but not required. Reliable transportation is essential, and the successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs and goals.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment to enhance student motivation and confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to align tutoring efforts with the school curriculum.
  • Track and report on student progress, attendance, and engagement.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring skills and knowledge.

  • A bi-weekly stipend of $500 (gross before taxes)
  • A monthly stipend of $700 (gross before taxes)
  • An education award of $2,817.14 upon successful completion of service
