Job Description

Madison Area Technical College is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate to teach part-time courses for the Cabinetmaking & Millwork program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cabinetmaking and millwork, with the ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement instructional strategies for adult students at the technical diploma and associate degree levels.
  • Provide continuing education and customized training for business and industry.
  • Develop learner-centered instructional strategies, collaborative curriculum, and assessments for continuous improvement.
  • Teach in the Cabinetmaking & Millwork program, including areas such as cabinetmaking and millwork.
  • Assist and advise students with problems related to assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during, and after courses and services.
  • Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and divisions of instruction.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
  • Work closely with the College's Business and Industry Services division to support the training needs of business partners and/or clients.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  • Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  • Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at the retention of students of color, female students, English Language Learners (ELL), and students with disabilities.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications
  • Technical diploma aligned with the Woodwork Career Alliance Skill Standards with expectation to obtain an Associate's degree within three (3) years of employment (unless waived).
  • Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of related work experience.
  • One (1) year (2,000 hours) of related work experience must be within the past five (5) years.
  • Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related area at an accredited college within the past five (5) years may be substituted for the one (1) year of related work experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Five (5) years (10,000 hours) of related work experience.
  • One (1) year (2,000 hours) of related work experience must be within the past five (5) years.
  • Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related area at an accredited college within the past five (5) years may be substituted for the one (1) year of related work experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Expectation to obtain a Technical diploma and/or Associate's degree in a related field within three (3) years of employment (unless waived).
