Compensation

This role is classified as an hourly position at pay grade 103.

Work Schedule

This position entails a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with the expectation of additional hours as necessary.

Eligibility

Open to all individuals legally authorized to work in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the crew vehicle and assist in inventory management to ensure adequate supplies.

• Perform cleaning and routine maintenance on tools and equipment.

• Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment for gas operations.

• Engage in semi-skilled labor tasks including pipe preparation, cutting, threading, and assisting in pipeline maintenance.

• Prepare documentation such as tap cards and inspection reports in line with departmental protocols and regulatory standards.

• Keep updated map books for operational reference.

• Assist in conducting pressure tests and purging of gas mains within the distribution network.

• Perform landscaping duties around Gas Department facilities.

• Support the maintenance and operation of gas valves within the municipal system.

• Aid in the installation and upkeep of large gas meters.

• Under supervision, monitor and adjust gas pressure to ensure safe operational limits.

• Respond to emergency situations involving gas leaks and odor complaints.

• Manage odorizers at City Gate Stations to maintain proper odorization levels.

• Conduct inspections and repairs on regulators and relief valves as per TRRC regulations.

• Perform maintenance on gas regulator stations, including the surrounding areas.

• Operate gas control valves during emergencies and related projects under guidance.

• Maintain records of large volume gas meters, both handwritten and digital.

• May be assigned additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• No prior experience is necessary.

• A valid driver's license is mandatory; out-of-state candidates must obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
