Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse II (RN II) is a skilled healthcare professional responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role requires a strong foundation in nursing principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, identifying physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, as well as nutrition, pain, and patient/family education needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, prioritizing patient needs and utilizing available resources.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care, including patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to establish strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Participate in unit and department performance improvement activities, contributing to the development of evidence-based practices.
  • Stay current with industry developments, attending staff development activities and participating in nursing research initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and unit activities.
Requirements:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • One year of recent experience in a Neonatal Level III nursery or completion of a KP NICU Training Program within the past 12 months.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
  • Commitment to service orientation (members, staff, providers).
  • Effective written and oral communication skills (in English).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
