Job Summary

The Seafood Team Leader at Whole Foods Market - Jericho is a key position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the seafood department. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Hold ATLs, supervisors, and team members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Making hiring and separation decisions in partnership with Store Leadership.
  • Monitor and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  • Project annual sales and expenses and prepare operating budgets.
  • Manage ordering and inventory to achieve targeted contribution to profit margin.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with departmental and store leadership.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
  • Sustain an exceptional level of knowledge and awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends.
  • Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; respond promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  • Communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
  • Consistently communicate and model WFM vision and goals.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 24 months of retail experience, including 12 months of team leadership experience.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a positive, inclusive work environment.

Benefits

Whole Foods Market offers a competitive hourly wage range of $23.60-$33.05, commensurate with experience. We also provide comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan benefits, eligibility for a store discount, paid time off, and access to other benefit programs. Eligibility for these benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable Whole Benefits plan at a person's date of hire.
