About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Administrator to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in supporting the administrative and business functions of our unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the departmental budget, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain budget plans, analyzing income and expenditure data to ensure adequate support for academic programs.
  • Collaborate with contracts and grant staff on acquisitions, including equipment, consultant services, and other non-payroll expenses.
  • Ensure conformance to agency policies, Cost Accounting Standards, and audit reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration and operations of the department, evaluating administrative procedures and implementing improvements as needed.
Requirements
  • Solid knowledge of budget, account, and fund management, as well as personnel management within labor contracts and personnel policy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, active listening, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolutions.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources, and risk management planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid organizational and customer service skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.
