Aquatics Lifeguard

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Lifeguard to join our Aquatics team at the Wapakoneta Family YMCA. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all swimmers and observers in the pool area, while maintaining a clean and fun environment.

1. Pool Safety and Surveillance: Be in chair and ready to lifeguard on time, be alert and attentive while in your chair/on duty, and ensure that all swimmers and divers follow pool rules and policies.
2. Leadership and Teamwork: Demonstrate leadership qualities, possess a strong work ethic, and work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
3. Equipment Maintenance and Storage: Ensure the storage of equipment is kept clean and equipment is stored properly.
4. Professional Development: Attend all in-service trainings, which will be held at least once a month, and participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and enhance skills.
5. Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Familiarize yourself with facility policies, procedures, and rules, and adhere to them at all times.
6. Communication and Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, respond to member inquiries, and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
7. Physical Demands and Requirements: Maintain physical ability to perform rescues, and be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Certifications: Lifeguarding, Adult/Child/Infant CPR (Professional Rescue or Healthcare Provider), First Aid, Oxygen Administration, and AED.
• Leadership qualities and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain physical ability to perform rescues.

Working Conditions
