Job Summary:

Nexstar Media Group is seeking a highly skilled Broadcast Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing station equipment to ensure seamless broadcast operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair station equipment through preventive maintenance and repair, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Install, wire, and document broadcast equipment, IT servers, switches, and routers, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist the news department with support for systems such as BitCentral, ENPS, and Ross Xpression, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of news content.
  • Perform diagnostics and repair of computer systems, including hardware repair and software installation, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate or assist with the transmission of bonded cellular, satellite, or RF microwave trucks, ensuring reliable and high-quality broadcast signals.
  • Develop and maintain a basic understanding of technical drawings and documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Interface with outside vendors for repairs or upgrades on systems, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in IT, electronics, television, or a similar environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and operate broadcast equipment, including video monitoring, routers, patch panels, fiber, wireless devices, ENG cameras, and studio robotic cameras.
  • Proficiency in using audio-video-data test equipment, such as digital waveform and spectrum analyzers.
  • Demonstrated IT experience with basic server, networking topology, and operating systems.
  • Ability to work with the management team on design, installation, and integration of new equipment.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize issues.
  • Good hand dexterity, ability to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Amateur radio operator, FCC license, SBE/Cisco/Microsoft certifications are a plus.
