Position Summary:
The Automotive Fabrication Specialist is responsible for the repair and restoration of metal, plastic, and fiberglass components in vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and plan necessary repair tasks for vehicles and equipment entering the workshop.
- Utilize a variety of tools including cutting torches, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, and hand tools to execute repairs.
- Address minor body damage by hammering out dents and applying filler resins when needed.
- Realign vehicle chassis and frames to rectify structural issues.
- Remove damaged vehicle sections and replace them with new or aftermarket components.
- Repair or replace glass and windshields as required.
- Fix or replace interior components as necessary.
- Weld and fit parts securely into place.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles using factory-specified or equivalent paint.
- Complete work orders within established timeframes.
- Inspect vehicles post-repair to ensure quality and accuracy of work.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to interpret job orders and work independently.
- Collaborative skills to work effectively with fellow technicians.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle body repair methods and procedures.
- Proficient in the use of tools required for automotive repair.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Completion of a technical school program or a three-year apprenticeship as an auto body technician is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work safely in a noisy environment with various odors.
- Capability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Visual inspection of vehicle damage under diverse weather conditions.
- Physical ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat during repairs and inspections.
