Job Title: Orthotist

Geisinger Health System is seeking a highly skilled Orthotist to join our team. As an Orthotist, you will be responsible for evaluating, measuring, casting, designing, and fitting custom-made lower extremity, upper extremity, and spinal orthoses. You will also measure, fit, and adjust prefabricated orthoses to ensure optimal function and comfort for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patient conditions and determine necessary treatment
  • Communicate with prescribing physicians to clarify expectations and design options
  • Formulate comprehensive treatment plans based on input from patients, families, therapists, and other rehabilitation team members
  • Select appropriate prefabricated orthoses or design custom orthoses to achieve prescribed outcomes
  • Measure and cast patients, correct and modify positive molds, and provide design specifications to the central fabrication lab
  • Fits patients with completed orthoses and adjusts as necessary to achieve optimal function
  • Provides instruction to patients and families on proper use and care of orthoses
  • Provides follow-up care to ensure successful treatment outcomes
  • Documents all patient contacts according to established departmental and hospital procedures
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts orthoses as required
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of managerial/supervisory experience and 5 years of related work experience
  • Certified Orthotist - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics, Inc. (ABCOP)
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment and travel to other sites as needed
