Job Title: Event Technician

Reid Park Zoological Society is seeking a highly skilled Event Technician to join our Events and Rentals Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, execution, and teardown of special events and facility rentals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement lighting and display systems for events
  • Hang and install lights and physical exhibits, ensuring their safe operation throughout the event
  • Dismantle, repair, and store event materials in a timely and organized manner
  • Operate heavy equipment, including forklift trucks and aerial lifts, with a focus on safety
  • Maintain an inventory of lighting and event materials, ensuring accountability for used materials and equipment
  • Keep event work areas clean and organized throughout the year
  • Coordinate assigned aspects of events and programs, including venue logistics, audio/visual, and lighting
  • Prepare audiovisual needs and coordinate with vendors as needed for events or rentals
  • Create props and themed displays for programs or events as requested
  • Meet and oversee contractors, vendors, volunteers, and entertainers before and during events
  • Provide staffing services as needed during events, including greeting, moving equipment, and assisting guests

Requirements:

  • Two years of commercial experience in building displays for retail, hospitality, or attractions
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience operating equipment, including fork lift trucks, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, with a willingness to undertake training to become a certified operator
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification preferred
  • Experience in safe use of power tools, hand tools, and ladder safety
  • Regular physical attendance at work
  • Demonstrated artistic background or creative ability desirable
  • Az driver's license without restrictions required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, experience using MS Office & email
  • Basic mathematical capability
  • Ability to lift up to 40+ lbs, walk, stand, bend, climb, and reach for prolonged periods
  • Ability to work outside and perform physical work in extreme wet, cold, or hot weather conditions and range of temperatures
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Flexible, can-do attitude, able to cope with last-minute changes
  • Good customer service skills, with ability to work with a variety of people and personalities, and support the Zoo's efforts to provide an excellent guest experience at all events
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality, and respect and observe organizational protocol
  • Must be able to work flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility for changing hours

Compensation:

The hiring range for this job is $20.33 hourly.
