Winnetka, Illinois, United States Medline Full time
Job Overview
Oversee the creation and continuous enhancement of the Sales Field Trainer Program across all sales divisions. This program is a crucial component of Medline's sales representative training framework.

The initiative fulfills two essential roles in the training and development strategy for sales representatives:
(1) Facilitate the onboarding of new representatives through a structured 1:1 field-based coaching relationship and curriculum
(2) Direct the curriculum strategy and implementation to cultivate a pool of field trainers and future sales leaders.

This position requires close collaboration with Sales Leadership and various business partners to ensure the strategic and operational needs of the Field Trainer program are effectively addressed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership to design, implement, and manage the Field Training program.
  • Work alongside Sales leadership, HR, and Compliance to assess new and existing field trainers.
  • Organize and lead onboarding sessions for newly appointed Field Trainers, either in quarterly group settings or individual training sessions.
  • Coordinate Trainer and Trainee pairings for new hires across all sales divisions, maintaining an accurate database of approved field trainers and providing regular updates to sales leadership.
  • Manage daily operations of the Field Training program, ensuring milestones are achieved by both trainers and trainees, reviewing feedback from Field Trainers regarding completion and quality of reporting, and coordinating with sales compensation and payroll for trainer payments upon completion.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all program-related support and needs for the Field Trainer Program.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with technology and curriculum vendors for ongoing program improvement.
  • Partner with sales training and cross-functional teams to develop curriculum, milestones, and performance measurement plans that align with overall sales training and development initiatives.
  • Identify and promote best practices, striving for a standardized approach, rubrics, and definitions for Field Progress Reports across all trade classes to ensure consistency and accountability.
  • This role is primarily an individual contributor position, with management responsibilities limited to overseeing daily activities and outcomes of a group of employees.
  • May participate in the hiring process, recommend salary adjustments, conduct performance evaluations, facilitate staff training and development, estimate personnel needs, assign tasks, ensure deadlines are met, and interpret and uphold organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in field sales.
  • Proven experience in coaching and development, including handling challenging and impactful conversations, as demonstrated through a formal field sales trainer role.

  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to devise strategies that align with departmental goals within budget and timelines.
  • Proficient in presenting to and communicating with diverse audiences, including senior management and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects, competing priorities, and critical deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills for data collection and analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • This position may require travel for business purposes, both within and outside the state.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Experience in managing sales professionals.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Familiarity with Medline's CRM, reporting, and quoting systems.
