Program Director Opportunity at Apple Playschools

Apple Playschools is a dynamic and Reggio Emilia-inspired early childhood organization offering outdoor and Spanish immersion programs. We seek an experienced leader to direct one of our outdoor immersion programs, Green Apple Garden, serving 20-25 children ages 6 weeks to 30 months old and a team of 10-12 teachers.

Your Role

The Program Director will collaborate with our administrative team, teaching staff, and families to support 1-3 classrooms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Teacher Coach & Manager: Recruit, interview, and hire staff; provide feedback, evaluate, and discipline teaching teams; maintain transparent communication and lead trainings.
  • Financial Manager: Make business decisions, allocate resources, and ensure financial responsibility.
  • License and Compliance Manager: Ensure safety, health, licensing, and policy rules are followed; coordinate with others on Great Start to Quality and act as a mandated reporter.
  • Family & Admin Liaison: Communicate with staff and families; coordinate efforts and support for signature events and families with neurodivergent children.

Requirements

We seek a candidate with:

  • 21+ years of age
  • Early Childhood Program Director requirements outlined in Licensing Rules for Michigan Child Care Centers
  • 3+ years of teaching experience in Early Childhood or Elementary education
  • 2+ years of management, coaching, or mentorship experience
  • Creative problem-solving, equity focus, and ability to pass background checks

Experience working with infants and toddlers, a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, and nonprofit, administrative, and education experience are a plus.
