Position Overview

The Procurement Specialist will undertake purchasing responsibilities to support business operations across various product lines. This role involves negotiating pricing, conducting price/cost analyses, and ensuring compliance with procurement documentation as mandated by AS9100 standards, government contracting laws, and Trust Automation's policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include managing purchase orders for custom fabricated components, printed circuit board fabrication, consignment assembly, turnkey contract manufacturing, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) parts, custom electronic components, and vendor-managed inventory (VMI). This position reports directly to the Materials Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex purchase orders, including those with custom specifications and/or statements of work (SOW).
  • Utilize best practices in government contracting to meet Trust's business needs and comply with regulatory requirements from Request for Quote (RFQ) to product receipt.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, analyze received quotes, and negotiate contracts covering pricing, schedules, and terms in alignment with quality and delivery standards as driven by the ERP system.
  • Select from approved suppliers, document agreements, and manage purchase orders through to invoice processing.
  • Negotiate modifications to purchase orders, cultivate positive supplier relationships, and engage with suppliers via various communication methods as necessary.
  • Communicate forecasts to suppliers and confirm or expedite material deliveries as required to meet on-time delivery goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance through supplier scorecards.
  • Maintain the integrity of ERP planning data, ensuring real-time updates of lead times, pricing, preferred suppliers, and recommendations for inventory requirements.
  • Participate in change control processes, including internal and external design changes, identifying alternative supply sources, and managing component obsolescence.
  • Notify management and escalate issues when critical shortages arise or when end-of-life or obsolescence notices are received.
  • Assist Quality in coordinating activities related to non-conforming products and their resolution with suppliers.

Qualifications

  • College degree, equivalent experience, or demonstrated knowledge in business administration with a focus on supply chain management, engineering, finance, or business analytics.
  • Cross-functional understanding of supplier quality, manufacturing, and engineering as they pertain to procurement.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks effectively, and communicate priorities clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, critical thinking, and data analytics.
  • High level of personal accountability and professionalism in written and verbal communication.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Experience with ERP systems, purchase order documentation, and terms and conditions.
  • Understanding of purchase order and shipping documentation, including terms and conditions and certificates of conformance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Combination of education and experience is advantageous.
  • Must be a U.S. Person.
  • Experience in contract administration within the defense sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) principles and supplements such as DFARS is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, or virtually.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and assemble intricate items.
  • Visual acuity to read various materials.
  • Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Compensation Information

The salary range for this position is $68,000 to $80,000 annually.
