Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist Specialist to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As a Phlebotomist Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services by collecting high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages. Your expertise and attention to detail will be essential in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of our test results.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using various phlebotomy methods, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections.
- Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes, by working effectively with healthcare teams.
- Work collaboratively with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Accurately identify patients, label, handle, and transport specimens, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Utilize computer programs and systems to manage daily tasks and maintain accurate records.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to push a cart and walk distances, with moderate to advanced computer skills.
