Job Summary:

The Rail Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the assigned team and site operations to perform contracted services for clients in a manner consistent with company values and quality of performance under the direction of the Regional Manager.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and leads the operations of the assigned site to ensure the contracted scope of work is followed.
  • Provides technical support to employees and ensures compliance with Drummac's employment policies, safety rules, scheduled agreements, and Association of American Railroads (AAR)/Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations.
  • Coordinates, creates, and publishes weekly schedules for the team which align with the budget.
  • Monitors operations to ensure that staff members comply with all safety rules and promotes safe work activities by conducting and reviewing frequent safety audits.
  • Supervises employee performance and coaches each team member to develop the team for success.
  • Leads new hire training, policy and procedure compliance, and disciplinary counseling.
  • Trains staff in proper procedures for all work tasks and processes timecards, maintains vacation schedules, and assigns and ensures training.
  • Requires constant and close interaction with the management team as well as Drummac's client.
  • Wears and uses required protective equipment while working and takes responsibility for own safety while on the job.
  • Travel periodically as needed (typically no more than 25% travel or as directed by management).

Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Requires High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent reading, writing, and reasoning skills); Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • At least five (5) years of transportation industry work experience with a minimum of one (1) year at the Supervisor level.
  • Requires 49 CFR 238, 229, 218, and 236 qualifications; though Drummac will provide training to the right candidate in these areas.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), analytical, and persuasive skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees, and leadership.
  • Must be able to multi-task and have strong supervisory, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • General working knowledge of FRA regulations, OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards, DOT standards and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
  • General understanding of equipment capabilities and requirements of different types of jobs.
  • Ability to work in a wide range of environments including those involving hazardous conditions which may require lifting or exerting force exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Must have appropriate licenses and certifications.
  • Ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
  • Ability to travel overnight as required by business needs.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verifications throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.
