Per Diem Medical Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Medical Technologist to join our team at North Mississippi Health Services. As a Per Diem Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of laboratory specimens, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Processing: Coordinate the workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area, ensuring accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens.
- Charge Medical Technologist: Serve as the Charge Medical Technologist in the absence of the supervisor or Lead MT, overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members, and customers, using AIDET principles and attending CARES training.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, answering telephone calls in a polite and efficient manner, and ensuring proper service recovery when necessary.
- Employee Relations: Work collaboratively with all Pathology and NMHS employees as part of a team.
- Reporting/Recordkeeping: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of department testing, assist with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives, and maintain appropriate documentation of required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control.
- Education: Assist with training of students and new employees, participate in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills, and stay abreast of regulatory changes.
- Regulation: Adhere to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines, comply with Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guidelines/regulations/laws/statutes, and adhere to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or related field.
- Certification: ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, required within 12 months after graduation from an accredited Medical Technology Program.
- Skills: Proficient skills with LIS, good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills, and knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens.
