Position Summary:

The Extrusion Operator is accountable for the effective operation of extrusion machinery, adhering to established documentation and procedures. This role encompasses the setup, operation, and maintenance of equipment, along with conducting quality assessments to ensure optimal product quality while minimizing waste and meeting production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Duties: Execute the setup of extruders, including configuring screw arrangements and aligning cutter boxes with guidance from senior operators. Maintain a solid understanding of equipment operation, ensuring adequate dry and liquid batches are prepared prior to production. Strive to reduce changeover times to enhance equipment efficiency. Conduct regular quality checks to confirm compliance with specifications and communicate production progress to relevant team members. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and assist in various production roles as required.
  2. Documentation Management: Accurately complete all production-related paperwork in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food-related sectors

Essential Skills:

  • Proactive approach to work
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability in a dynamic work environment

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Familiarity with touch screen tablets/PLC and basic math
  • Ability to use pneumatic and hand tools
  • Entry-level mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with forklifts and aerial lifts, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Knowledge of batching and packaging equipment operation and maintenance

Certifications:

  • Forklift and Aerial Lift certifications are preferred

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English is preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Work Environment: This position is situated within a manufacturing warehouse setting, where the use of machinery is routine. The environment may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and noisy. Personal protective equipment is required while on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Requirements: The role necessitates standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Employees may need to lift or move items weighing up to 55 pounds and work at heights of up to 40 feet.
