Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Discover Staffing. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for performing setup and machining operations utilizing the Haas Vertical Machining Center and other Machine Shop equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, program, operate, and maintain CNC machines working from detailed blueprints to perform a variety of machining operations such as mill, drill, ream, punch, bore, turn, face, etc. to specific tolerances.
  • Set up, program, operate, and maintain the Haas EC500 machine.
  • Develop programs occasionally or adjust tapes as required.
  • Devise new tools and fixtures for unusual operations by making machine adjustments and grinding or sharpening existing tools.
  • Check dimensions on finished parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers.
  • Perform QC using standard tools.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years related work experience.
  • Skilled in all aspects of programming, setup, and operation of the Haas vertical machining center.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings of fabricated parts.
  • Ability to read and write machine "G" code specific to Haas programming.
  • Good interdepartmental communication skills both verbal and written.

Working Conditions:

  • Sitting will occur up to 25% of the time for brief or extended periods.
  • Lifting/carrying may be required approximately 20% of the time, up to 50 pounds.
  • Handling/grasping occur approximately 40% of the time.
  • Standing/walking occur approximately 30% of the time on concrete floors.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years related work experience.
