Job Title: Land Surveyor/Mapping Expert

We are seeking an experienced Land Surveyor/Mapping Expert to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Geospatial team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing mapping-related projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys, control surveys, land descriptions, and subdivision mapping on public and private land development projects.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee work on mapping-related projects, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Task management, including managing scope, schedule, and budgets.
  • Oversee financial details and performance of survey projects and/or tasks.
  • Supervise technical office and field staff assigned to your team.
  • Perform survey calculations, analysis, and final map checking, abstracting title data, and record drawings research.
  • Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
  • Coordinate survey efforts with clients and other professions within Stantec.
  • Sign and seal survey documents.
  • Perform survey project quality control and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of local survey laws, surveying principles, techniques, and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Proficient in relevant technical software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and/or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Demonstrates strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Education and Experience:
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in the state of California is required.
  • A bachelor's degree or a survey-related program; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Land Surveying experience preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, including directing workloads, developing staff, and completing performance assessments.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $152,900 per year, depending on experience.
