Position Summary
We are in search of a highly motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to become a vital part of our dynamic team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), specifically within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Vaccine Research Center (VRC) Non-Human Primate Immunogenicity Section.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Isolate peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from whole blood utilizing density gradient separation in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
  • Assist team members with tissue processing and various assays as required.
  • Calibrate and operate an array of laboratory instruments, including serological pipet-aids, cell counters, centrifuges, controlled rate freezers, and liquid nitrogen freezers.
  • Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain precise and daily records of experimental procedures.
  • Facilitate the storage, retrieval, and shipment of specimens, including the preparation of shipping documentation.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness, restocking, and maintenance of the laboratory environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Immunology, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is essential.
  • Capability to remain seated for extended periods at a computer and/or biosafety cabinet; ability to navigate within the workplace and travel to various research locations.
