ICMA is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the next Fire Chief of Texas City. As a respected public servant, the successful candidate will provide clear direction, lead by example, and earn the respect of both department members and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the fire department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to the community.
  • Develop and implement effective policies and procedures to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
  • Manage the fire department's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a diverse and skilled team of firefighters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, emergency management, fire science and technology, or a related field.
  • 15 years of progressively responsible experience in firefighting and emergency response operations.
  • 10 or more years of supervisory, management, and command experience.
  • Intermediate certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
  • EMT certification and paramedic certification preferred.
  • NIMS courses 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in public administration, emergency management, fire science and technology, or a related field.
  • Fire Instructor II and Fire Officer III certification.
  • Fire Officer IV certification preferred.
  • Executive fire officer certification from the National Fire Academy or Texas Fire Chiefs Association.
