Role Overview

The Senior Client Relationship Specialist plays a crucial role in addressing the financial requirements of our member-owners with precision and care, fostering strong connections that align with the Credit Union's goal of enhancing our members' financial well-being and establishing ourselves as their trusted financial ally. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities within the Branch, including executing teller transactions, facilitating loans, managing account openings and maintenance, and overseeing savings and investment products, alongside other operational duties and leadership tasks. The Senior Client Relationship Specialist will guide members from their initial inquiry through to the successful completion of their transactions or service needs. Daily responsibilities will vary based on member requirements, necessitating a seamless transition between teller and platform services. This role also serves as a positive example for all staff, upholding the organization's mission to meet the financial needs of our member-owners. Additionally, the Senior Client Relationship Specialist will provide leadership and oversight in the absence of a Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages with members and mentors the Relationship Banker role to assess current and future financial objectives through comprehensive guidance and credit evaluations, offering solutions with Credit Union deposit, loan, and ancillary products and services. Ensures consistent adherence to Credit Union service standards during every member interaction, including basic issue resolution. Identifies quality referrals to other business units such as Business Services, Mortgage, and Truliant Financial Advisors.
  • Maintains confidentiality and integrity while managing member accounts.
  • Complies with all Credit Union and security policies, assisting the Branch Manager in ensuring staff members apply appropriate skills to mitigate loan and fraud losses.
  • Handles all teller transactions as needed and is capable of balancing cash dispensing machines, transaction currency recyclers, ATMs, and vaults.
  • Conducts all member service operations, including initiating new accounts and establishing relationships through knowledge of products and services beneficial to the member.
  • Provides comprehensive information on all deposit and loan offerings to member-owners, including mortgages, service agreements, and business service requests.
  • Manages the loan and deposit pipeline to ensure timely follow-up and converts leads into successful outcomes.
  • Understands the IRA processes and products available, opening and maintaining all IRA accounts.
  • Conducts outbound guidance calls to member-owners.
  • Represents the Credit Union through visits to Business Partners and participation in other Credit Union functions.
  • Implements the Branch's strategy to achieve goals and objectives, including member service scores, loan production, deposit growth, new member acquisition, and referrals to partner lines of business.
  • Investigates and resolves member account issues while maintaining integrity, discretion, and confidentiality in challenging situations.
  • Assists Management in ensuring that all Branch cash audits are performed efficiently, accurately, and consistently.
  • Supports the Branch Manager in ensuring that staff members effectively control and minimize loan and fraud losses, verifying adherence to Credit Union balancing standards.
  • Ensures team members comply with all Credit Union and security policies, communicating any changes in operational procedures.
  • Schedules operations to guarantee adequate staff coverage during service hours, assigning projects to team members and confirming task completion.
  • Balances and audits ATMs, vaults, cash dispensing machines, and transaction currency recyclers in accordance with Credit Union policy, ensuring daily processing and management of the Night Depository. Balances vault cash daily and reconciles errors as necessary, maintaining cash levels within established limits.
  • Establishes clear objectives, behaviors, and actions for each employee, providing regular communication and coaching. Monitors progress and tracks results, offering coaching, training, or remediation as needed.
  • Assists the Manager in evaluating performance standards and expectations of team members to ensure effectiveness and accountability.
  • Responds to security and audit findings, monitoring operations to ensure compliance.
  • Actively participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of employees, assisting in planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Flexibility to assist members with diverse needs in various capacities throughout the day.
  • Strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations, and compliance within the financial services sector.

  • Must hold a Notary appointment or obtain Notary status within three months of hire.
  • Trained in Branch Lending.
  • Ability to comprehend all business processes within the Credit Union.

  • Ability to work in a general office environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust resources and priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to resolve member complaints and coach others effectively.

Education and Background

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • College Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in the retail or financial services industry required.
  • Previous sales experience required.
