Job Title: Storage Systems Architect

Job Summary: NorthHill Technology Resources is seeking a skilled Storage Systems Architect to support a Federal Program in Springfield, VA.

Responsibilities:

* Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools.

* Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies.

* Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required.

* Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes.

* Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends.

* Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents.

* Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes.

* Oversee the Installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures.

* Oversees the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security.

* Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are collected and regularly reviewed.

* Keeps abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology.

Requirements:

* BS degree and 5+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination.

* Hands on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts.

* Experience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementations.

* Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments.

* Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments.

* Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies.

* Senior level experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers.

* Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environment.

* Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet.

* Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.

* Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.).

* CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification.

* Proficient written and oral communication skills.

* Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment.

* Ability to take direction.

Preferred Qualifications:

* NetApp Certification.

* PowerShell/Python scripting experience.

* Experience leveraging scripts to audit and enforce configuration standards.
