Job Summary

The Arizona Veterans Research and Education Foundation is seeking an Animal Care and Laboratory Professional to join our research team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and handling of laboratory animals, conducting experiments, and maintaining detailed documentation of procedures and results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Care, handle, and use laboratory rat/mouse research animals
  • Perform small animal (rodent) surgery and post-surgical care
  • Evaluate cognitive function, implement exercise interventions, and administer drugs in laboratory animals
  • Process biological samples, tissue processing, blood vessel experiments, and microscopy
  • Maintain in vitro cell culture, perform cell treatments for experimental conditions
  • Conduct molecular biology experiments: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR and qPCR, protein isolation, western blot analysis, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry studies
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the position or equivalent experience
  • Experience with rat/mouse animal handling in a research environment
  • Knowledge of rodent basic biology, handling, and behavior testing
  • Fine hand dexterity to isolate and handle small blood vessels under a microscope
