Position Title: Commodity Implementation Buyer Specialist
Role Overview: The Commodity Implementation Buyer Specialist is responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement processes for assigned commodities, ensuring alignment with project timelines and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand program sourcing strategies and critical milestones to support successful launches.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, analyzing their capabilities and pricing structures in collaboration with Engineering and relevant teams.
- Manage the supply base for assigned commodities by:
- Preparing and overseeing RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for long-term production volumes.
- Conducting bidder conferences, analyzing proposals, negotiating terms, and recommending suppliers while administering contracts.
- Establishing long-term agreements to ensure competitive pricing.
- Leading initiatives for cost reduction.
- Develop and maintain relationships with sourced suppliers, ensuring they meet all required specifications and timelines.
- Evaluate suppliers' core competencies and cost-effectiveness using industry-standard models.
- Guide suppliers through the established Parts Development process from inception to completion.
- Achieve target quality levels at each development milestone, implementing improvement plans for any issues affecting quality and delivery.
- Drive successful launches at supplier sites, collaborating with cross-functional teams to adhere to quality standards and promptly address any significant issues.
- Conduct effective meetings with suppliers to resolve issues quickly and foster strong relationships.
- Continuously negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing and tooling costs to meet vehicle cost targets.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to develop purchasing strategies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Monitor supply chain activities to prevent disruptions.
- Maintain an updated database of supply base information.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and negotiation capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
Work Environment: This is a permanent, fully on-site position. Domestic and international travel may be required. Shift assignments may vary based on business needs.
