Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical functions, including answering phones, taking messages, and communicating with staff.
  • Transcribe and transmit physician orders to relevant areas under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Schedule patients for Endoscopy, infusions, blood transfusions, injections, and OR cases, ensuring accurate and timely entry into the scheduling system.
  • Maintain an organized system for scheduling patients, ensuring all scheduled cases have a confirmation number entered on the booking sheet and communicated to the physicians' office.
  • Assemble patient charts correctly, ensuring accurate and complete documentation, including H&P, orders, and lab work.
  • Enter patient information into the chart and computer system with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confirm account numbers to prevent duplicate entries.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with the Charge Nurse to facilitate the progression of OR, ENDO, and infusion schedules.
  • Call patients into the unit from the waiting room, providing clear instructions and identification.
  • Update and print OR/ENDO schedules from the scheduling system.
  • Discharge patients from the computer system in a timely manner.
  • Disassemble charts of discharged patients and store them in a designated area.
  • Call cancelled infusion patients to reschedule.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of clerical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Computer competence, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Sorian, and ORSOS.
