ROLE SUMMARY

The Project Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in providing analytical assistance to the Project Manager regarding cost assessments, reporting, and forecasting at both the Project and Program levels. This position collaborates with the project delivery team, client financial departments, and shared services to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting for projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and analyzing financial performance against established budgets.
  • Preparing reports utilizing internal tools based on financial and project data analysis.
  • Assisting Project Managers and teams by generating reports as requested by upper management and field personnel.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of project and financial activities.
  • Utilizing internal reporting tools to create necessary documentation.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Forecasting: Use internal electronic tools to update reports that assist the Project Manager and team in managing their assigned projects effectively. Review forecasts with Project Managers and adjust as necessary, ensuring consistency across all reporting platforms.
  • Accruals: Collaborate with Project Managers and assigned Program Analysts to prepare and submit preliminary mid-month project accruals, making adjustments as needed before final submission at the end of each billing cycle.
  • Monitoring Activities: Conduct daily checks of various internal financial reporting systems during the mid-month to end-of-month period to track any project-specific changes, ensuring data consistency across all platforms.
  • Project Planning: Actively engage with Project Managers and teams to develop and maintain a Work Plan that tracks project status, including start and completion dates, budgets, and other relevant project information.
  • Actual Spending: Continuously monitor expenditures on active projects and report findings to Project Managers as necessary.
  • Variance Analysis: Regularly assess spending against estimates to identify variances and report findings accordingly.
  • Meetings: Participate actively in all scheduled program and team meetings, prepared to discuss the financial status of the overall program and individual projects as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform tasks accurately, completely, and promptly.
  • Strong financial management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365.
  • Experience with management tools such as Excel and SAP.
  • Experience with financial controls is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
  • Ability to foster relationships and collaborate effectively within a team.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field. Consideration will be given to candidates with over two years of relevant financial management experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 to 5 years of financial management experience in a construction or electric utility context is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

  • Completion of company training and role-specific professional development coursework within the required timeframe is mandatory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • May require occasional overnight travel.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours to meet project demands.
  • Typical office environment, with potential exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Frequent activities include sitting and viewing computer screens.
  • Occasional activities may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
