The Licensed Speech Language Therapist plays a crucial role in evaluating patients' needs and implementing tailored speech therapy interventions for individuals experiencing speech and language disorders, including swallowing difficulties. This position involves executing written prescriptions and referrals from physicians and may also include providing educational programs to the community and engaging in related activities as necessary. A valid NYS license (No CFY's) or eligibility is required, along with ASHA CCC's.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and deliver speech, language, and swallowing therapy in accordance with physician referrals.
  • Instruct and mentor speech therapy students and the community while supervising rehabilitation aides.
  • Assess patients' speech, language, and swallowing capabilities, as well as their psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of an accredited speech language pathology program, including a Master's degree and ASHA certification.
  • Licensure: Current NYS Licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and adapt to varying workloads.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to assist in lifting and moving patients.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
