Job Summary

Smith College seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX Coordinator to lead our institution's efforts in ensuring compliance with federal and state laws related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of Title IX and other relevant laws, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA, Rehabilitation Act Section 504, and other state and federal laws related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
  • Manage the institution's policies and procedures related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, including training and education for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Conduct investigations and adjudications of complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, and determine whether formal or informal resolutions are appropriate.
  • Collaborate with human resources, disability services, and facilities to ensure compliance with the ADA/Section 504.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with Title IX coordinators at neighboring campuses to facilitate joint training and prevention efforts.
  • Serve as institutional representative on Title IX, discrimination, and sexual misconduct related matters, including communications with government officials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, required. An advanced degree in a relevant field, such as law, is preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of significant Title IX, non-discrimination, ADA/504 or related experience, required.
  • Minimum three years of leadership and/or management experience, preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and successfully handling confidential and sensitive information.
