The Emergency Medicine Technician plays a vital role in our EMS unit, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. As a crew member, you will serve as a first responder, providing medical care and transporting patients to hospitals.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality patient care, including CPR and emergency care instruction to first responders and the public
- Operate response vehicles in emergency and non-emergency traffic modes, ensuring safe transportation of patients
- Evaluate scenes and respond to conditions as per policies and protocols, assessing patient needs and providing medical care
- Document patient care and activities via written and electronic media, maintaining accurate records
- Maintain EMS vehicles and equipment, performing routine maintenance and cleaning at EMS facilities
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess Texas EMT-B or AEMT certification in good standing with Texas Department of Safety Health Systems
- BLS: Basic Life Skills certification by The American Heart Association
- Class C driver license with no DWI convictions in the prior 10 years
- EMT-P required within 24 months of being in the role
- Practical knowledge of medicolegal aspects of pre-hospital patient care
- Basic medical terminology and pre-hospital patient care skills
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing; Must speak English fluently
- Knowledge of the Lubbock geographical areas or the ability to effectively read GPS coordinates
This position is subject to adverse weather and working conditions. The Emergency Medicine Technician frequently works in a noisy environment, with unusual lighting, and is occasionally exposed to blood and other infectious agents.
