Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at The Good Shepherd in Ashland, OH. As a Part-Time Weekend RN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Administer nursing services in accordance with current guidelines and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care.
  • Act as the resident advocate and assume responsibility for the quantity and quality of resident care given on assigned shifts.
  • Direct day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and ensure they follow established safety regulations and infection control techniques.
  • Monitor assigned staff to ensure they are following established safety regulations and infection control techniques.
  • Ensure proper administration of all treatments and medications and accountability of all medications, including narcotics.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Meet with assigned staff and support personnel to plan shifts' services, programs, and activities.
  • Complete accident/incident reports as necessary and ensure appropriate documentation regarding such in the medical record.
  • Receive physician's telephone orders and transcribe orders to resident chart, care plan, medication, and treatment records.
  • Chart nurses' notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident.
  • Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) with current, active license in the State of Ohio.
  • Long-term care experience is preferred.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and transfer residents.
  • Be compassionate, friendly, kind, and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
  • Make proper judgments.
  • Possess high degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Be cooperative with supervisors, fellow employees, and other departments.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and families.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people.
