GENERAL JOB FUNCTION

The Calibration Technician II is tasked with the essential role of overseeing, evaluating, and calibrating a diverse range of instruments and equipment. This position ensures that all measuring devices, meters, and testing apparatus are accurately calibrated to provide reliable readings. Adherence to the Policy and Quality Manual (QM), the Calibration System Description (CSD) of Micro Precision, and internal operational regulations is mandatory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The technician is responsible for the calibration of various testing instruments across multiple skill domains, including:

  • Electrical Equipment
  • Dimensional Equipment
  • Industrial / Mechanical Equipment
  • Temperature Equipment
  • RF/Optical Equipment

Calibration Process

Implement all relevant requirements, including customer specifications, QM, and CSD. Conduct preliminary evaluations and inspections of customer equipment, which encompass visual checks, cleaning, functional assessments, and self-testing.

Ensure that maintenance, minor repairs, and calibration tasks are executed according to the established schedule, aligning with customer specifications and requirements.

Communicate the status and updates regarding calibration to relevant personnel promptly; maintain regular collaboration with fellow technicians, Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), Sales, and Purchasing teams.

Analyze data, compute uncertainties, upload data, and generate reports, ensuring that all calibration data is precise and sufficient for complete reproducibility.

Ensure compliance with quality standards as per existing and approved quality procedures.

Safeguard and complete documentation related to field service work, including records of instrument misuse, worksheets, and laptops.

Verify that environmental conditions are suitable for tasks performed both in-house and at customer locations, ensuring that the sensitivity of these conditions and the accuracy of records in calibration certificates are maintained.

Ensure that the calibration procedures used are the most current and appropriate for the instruments being tested.

Transport instruments (both customer and Micro Precision) and reference materials carefully to prevent any degradation of instrument accuracy.

Notify the Quality Assurance Manager, customer, Division Manager, and Sales Manager immediately if any instrument is lost, damaged, or stolen while under Micro Precision's care.

Ensure that the nomenclature and identification of instruments are accurate and complete in the Calibration Management System (CMS), ensuring it matches the instrument identification.

Confirm that calibration certificates contain accurate information and that all client-required data is documented in the reports.

Verify reported results, utilized calibration procedures, approved functions, reference standards, and traceable patterns for accuracy and reproducibility.

Guarantee the safe handling, usage, and transport of customer and Micro Precision equipment during field service operations.

Seek guidance and assistance from customers to operate and/or calibrate their equipment, which may be installed, assembled, or configured in operational lines.

Study the equipment configuration, operational processes, and safety features prior to calibration, especially if part of a machine assembly or production line.

Maintain and complete necessary documentation related to fieldwork, including worksheets, field service order forms, and records of instrument abuse or mishandling.

Ensure that calibration data is accurate and sufficient for complete reproducibility.

Participate in or support accreditation or customer assessments as required.

Perform the duties of a qualified technician in calibration and/or repair according to the authorized technical capacity qualifications.

All personnel are responsible for initiating corrective actions as necessary for ongoing work processes.

Technicians must halt operations whenever non-conformities are identified and report these issues to their immediate supervisor, Lab Manager, Sales, and CSR.

Other Responsibilities

Conduct standards maintenance and verification of company standards as assigned by the Lab Manager.

Travel regionally or internationally to perform field calibration work as directed by the Lab Manager.

Engage in continuous training across all aspects of Micro Precision Calibration Services and share acquired knowledge and best practices with team members.

Collaborate with the department to establish general goals and develop, support, and implement plans to achieve identified targets; recommend improvements to enhance current operations and related processes.

Requirements:

The qualifications and experience necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position include:

Education:

Technical or related educational background, preferably in Metrology, Instrumentation, Electronics, or equivalent fields.

Training:

Completion of QMS exams 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 201, and 401 with a minimum score of 70%.

Completion of the ESDC Teamsite Module within three days of starting employment.

Experience in system/software development or modification.

Work Experience:

A minimum of two years of experience in electronic technology or related fields.

Experience with basic instrumentation and manual tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Familiarity with calibration procedures, uncertainty computation, and computer applications.

A keen eye for quality and detail, along with basic problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of techniques and tools associated with ISO/IEC standards.

A collaborative team player, trustworthy, service-oriented, and capable of managing priorities.

A valid driver's license is advantageous for driving a four-wheel vehicle.
