Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to individuals with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to promote recovery and independence.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, and eating to promote independence and self-care.
  • Monitor patients and provide observation to ensure the health and safety of all persons.
  • Participate in shift reports and recovery team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Perform delegated nursing duties commensurate with competency and provide guidance to junior staff members.
  • Respond effectively in crisis or psychiatric emergency situations, using verbal de-escalation and other interventions as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure a culture that promotes the least restrictive interventions necessary.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of patient care techniques and of treatment, therapy, developmental, and patient-centered recovery programs.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to effectively communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to provide patient care, administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and to conduct TIPS.
  • Ability to work with others and accept supervision.
  • Ability to train and provide guidance to others.
Working Conditions:

This position may involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The employee has full access to a limited set of records in accordance with HIPPA regulations.

Benefits:

This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights, and/or weekends. The position may also be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on maximum security locations.
