Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Psychiatric Nursing Assistant I to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong ability to work with others, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care. As a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant I, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide rehabilitative patient services, observe and report patient conditions, and participate in individualized and unit-based programming.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide supportive care to patients, including activities of daily living, hygiene, and eating
• Monitor patients and provide observation to ensure health and safety
• Serve as a liaison to the recovery team, providing verbal and written communication concerning patient progress
• Assist with preparing patients for medication administration or treatment
• Actively promote safety through continuous monitoring of the environment and engagement with patients

Requirements:

• Knowledge of patient care techniques and treatment programs
• Ability to read, write, and understand English to effectively communicate and carry out instructions
• Ability to provide patient care, administer first aid, and conduct Treatment Intervention Protection Strategies (TIPS)
• Ability to work with others and accept supervision
