The Senior Manager of Professional Education will spearhead our educational initiatives in the field of refractive surgery, specifically focusing on the STAAR Surgical Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL). This role entails the development and execution of extensive educational programs aimed at healthcare professionals across the Americas, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and other pertinent stakeholders. The Senior Manager will be instrumental in enhancing understanding of our products, procedural knowledge, and best practices associated with STAAR Surgical offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Work collaboratively with internal experts and key opinion leaders to design, create, and refine educational curricula that meet the needs of healthcare professionals.
Ensure that educational materials comply with regulatory standards, industry norms, and best practices in ophthalmology.
Conduct thorough needs assessments and gap analyses to pinpoint educational priorities and areas for curriculum improvement.
Program Implementation:
Manage the rollout of educational programs, which may include workshops, training sessions, webinars, and symposia, both in-person and online.
Provide leadership in coordination with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, marketing, and sales teams.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the primary liaison for Professional Education in the Americas, regularly communicating strategic plans and ongoing activities with essential internal stakeholders such as sales, marketing, and clinical partners.
Secure necessary input and alignment from key internal stakeholders before launching any programming in the Americas.
Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, professional societies, and academic institutions to enhance program credibility and foster partnerships.
Engage with healthcare professionals to identify their educational needs and gather feedback for continuous program enhancement.
Team Leadership:
Develop an annual operational plan for the Americas Professional Education team and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.
Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of educational and event specialists, ensuring high-quality program delivery and opportunities for professional growth.
Encourage a collaborative and innovative work environment that promotes creativity and excellence.
Evaluation and Metrics:
Establish and implement methods for assessing the effectiveness and impact of educational programs, utilizing metrics such as participant feedback, knowledge assessments, and performance outcomes.
Leverage data-driven insights to inform program optimization and strategic decision-making.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements, including accreditation standards and industry codes of conduct.
Stay informed about regulatory changes and integrate them into educational initiatives as necessary.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Certification in meeting planning or event management (CMP, CMM) is advantageous.
EXPERIENCE:
5-10 years of experience in professional education within a medical device or pharmaceutical organization, with over 2 years in a leadership role managing a full-service professional education team.
Demonstrated success in curriculum development, program management, and stakeholder engagement.
Proven leadership experience, including team management and cross-functional collaboration.
SKILLS:
Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong technological proficiency to support presentations, including PowerPoint and video playback.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical meetings and events is preferred.
Strategic mindset with the ability to drive results and adapt to changing market dynamics.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30%).
Robust understanding of medical devices, surgical procedures, and clinical applications.
Experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
