Job Title: Spay/Neuter Recovery Technician

Job Summary:

The Texas Humane Heroes' Spay/Neuter Recovery Technician plays a vital role in the health and well-being of animals by providing post-operative care and monitoring to animals recovering from spay/neuter surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor animals recovering from surgical procedures to ensure their safety, well-being, and comfort.
  • Administer medications as prescribed.
  • Provide post-operative care and monitoring of vital signs.
  • Assist in the handling and restraint of animals during the recovery process.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene in the recovery area and overall clinic.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Provide medical care to dogs and cats, including administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Provide compassionate care and handling of animals with various temperaments.
  • Assist with other clinic duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in a shelter or adoption center setting.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Excellent animal handling skills and a genuine love for animals.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for record-keeping and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and restraining animals.
  • Fear Free certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
