Job Summary:

The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in supporting Anesthesia providers in delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing outpatient surgery and/or Anesthesia Interventional procedures. This position requires a strong focus on maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked workroom, as well as ensuring the functionality of anesthesia equipment. The successful candidate will provide assistance with patient care during procedures, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workroom, ensuring an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor expiration dates, rotate stock, and remove outdates to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Clean and restock anesthesia carts, regional block carts, and anesthesia machines daily.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with BioMedical to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Support the daily work of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), including delivering supplies and medications to the ORs as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems with anesthesia equipment, machines, and monitors, and assist Anesthesia providers with difficult intubations and regional anesthesia blocks.
  • Respond to codes and other emergencies in the Ambulatory Surgery Center, and monitor and record department quality controls.
  • Provide input to the ASC leadership team on Anesthesia Department support and issues, and participate in universal protocol time-out procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Completion of an Anesthesia Technician training program or equivalent hospital or military training.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • Basic computer skills in a MS Windows environment, and customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards, including aseptic technique.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of recent continuous experience as an anesthesia tech or equivalent military experience in anesthesia.
  • National Certified Anesthesia Technician credential or the ability to obtain within one year from hire date.
