* Provide safe and efficient anesthesia care to patients undergoing various medical procedures
* Prepare and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems
* Assist anesthesiologists and anesthetists in the preparation and maintenance of equipment and supplies
* Operate and maintain complex equipment needed in major surgical procedures
* Assemble and operate autotransfusion devices and other equipment as needed
* Provide information to attending physicians, residents, and other staff regarding different anesthetic devices and supplies
* Educate and orient new staff and residents on different physiological monitors and supplies
* Perform ACT analysis, intra-aortic balloon pump methods, and glucose tests
* Ensure the proper function and maintenance of machines involved in these procedures
* Perform anesthesia machine checks and assemble and check anesthesia delivery systems
* Manage the calibration of EtCo2 monitors and ensure readiness of basic airway and specialty carts
* Calibrate O2 monitors and determine readiness of other equipment to prevent interference
* Assist with arterial line, CVP, and PA placement
* Assist with airway management and ensure readiness of rapid sequence/cricoid press and Fiberoptic equipment

Qualifications:

* Anesthesiology Technician Certification is required
* Maintain C.E.U. for certification as required by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians
* High School/GED is also required
* BLS certification is required every 2 years
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in anesthesiology, including care of anatomical functions and components of anesthesia medicines
* Experience with the correct procedural control of biological hazards, infection control, and universal precautions
* Knowledge of safe handling and storage of bulk and cylinder gases, equipment used for monitoring anesthesia administration, and maintenance of the patient's airway
* Knowledge of proper sterilization and aseptic techniques, usage of common anesthetic agents and drugs, and principles of purchasing and supply level control
* Human anatomy and physiology and basic pathophysiology of common disease
* Autotransfusion methods and operation, fluid therapy, and intravenous lines
* ECG application and interpretation, ACT analysis, blood gas, and glucose sampling, including machine operation
* Pacemaker and defibrillator operations, and basic transesophageal echocardiography use, care, and operation
