The General Manager will play a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring the team to deliver an exceptional retail experience that promotes the Common Citizen movement. This involves leading by example in serving fellow colleagues, inspiring and admiring team members, and working with company experts in value streams such as Human Resources, Finance, and Regulatory Compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Create a quality work experience for the retail team, seeing them as individuals rather than employees.
- Customer Service: Manage and inspire staff to deliver the highest level of customer service.
- Performance Management: Provides consistent constructive feedback that empowers and motivates the team and fosters an environment of growth and development.
- Store Operations: Manage, supervise, and direct the activities of the store and team, including oversight of local store employee scheduling.
- Inventory Management: The General Manager will be expected to step in and assist with inventory management and retail floor activities such as advising patients and customers.
- Issue Resolution: Address issues that arise from employees or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.).
- Performance Appraisals: Conduct personnel performance appraisals to assess training needs and build career paths.
- Brand Awareness: Propose innovative ideas to increase brand awareness and the Common Citizen Movement.
- Sales Culture: Create and reinforce a proactive selling culture that focuses on building a confident and competent team, building a loyal customer following through clear and positive communication.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of products and strains in the store, as well as industry-wide product knowledge.
- Staff Education: Provide education for staff about medical cannabis strains, edibles, concentrates, and routes of administration.
- Operational Efficiency: Participate in developing and implementing operational rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal efficiency of the store.
- Store Condition: Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards as it aligns with Common Citizen brand standards.
- Compliance: Ensure the provisioning center remains compliant with security, inventory, and local and state regulations.
- Inventory Management: Work in partnership with inventory & purchasing leads to create deals and specials that promote increased foot traffic.
- Financial Management: Oversee and manage product inventory in partnership with Back of House Manager.
- Reporting: Report on buying trends, customer needs, profits, etc.
- Cash Handling: Manage financial records and cash handling procedures.
- Sales Skills: Use active selling skills during guest engagements.
- Sales Coaching: Lead and coach selling skills in team members through practice and roleplay.
- Feedback: Observe selling behaviors and coach with on-the-spot feedback.
- Problem Solving: Problem-solving skills
- Leadership and Organization: Leadership and organizational abilities
- Interpersonal and Communication: Interpersonal and communication skills
- Math Skills: Strong math skills
- Microsoft Office: Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Excel and Word
- Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented
- Teamwork: Ability to work well both alone and with others
- Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience: 3-5 years in a retail management position
- METRC: Understanding of METRC
- Continuous Improvement: Continuous Improvement/Lean Methodology experience preferred, not required
- Cannabis Experience: Cannabis experience preferred, not required
