Position Summary:

The EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Analyst plays a crucial role in the support and enhancement of electronic medical record systems. This position entails the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of EMR systems to ensure they effectively serve healthcare providers while adhering to regulatory standards. The EMR Analyst collaborates closely with clinical personnel, the IT department, and various stakeholders to guarantee that the EMR system operates efficiently, reliably, and is user-friendly. Additionally, this role includes support for ancillary clinical applications and reports to the EMR-Clinical Application Supervisor.


Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (such as information systems/technology or communications). A minimum of 2-3 years of experience with EMR systems in a healthcare environment is required. Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Nextgen, or McKesson is advantageous, with a preference for experience in eClinical Works. Relevant certifications (e.g., Epic Certification, Cerner Certification, eClinical Works) are highly valued, and additional IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA-A+, PMP) are beneficial.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient technical skills in configuring and troubleshooting EMR systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, along with proficient writing skills.
  • Capability to effectively train and support end-users.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of healthcare workflows and compliance requirements.
  • Project management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:

EMR and Ancillary Clinical Application Management:

  • Customize and configure clinical software to align with organizational and clinical workflows.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and updates for the EMR system and clinical applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the clinical application infrastructure.

User Support and Training:

  • Assist end-users, including healthcare providers and administrative staff, in utilizing the EMR system.
  • Facilitate training sessions for new and existing users to ensure proficient use of the EMR system.
  • Create and update training materials and user manuals.
  • Adhere to procedures for incident resolution and request fulfillment within established service level agreements (SLAs), escalating software issues as necessary.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required by project demands.

Data Management:

  • Maintain the integrity and security of patient data within the EMR system.
  • Perform data entry, validation, and quality control tasks.
  • Generate and analyze reports from the EMR system to support clinical and administrative decision-making.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure the EMR system complies with all relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
  • Assist with audits and assessments to verify compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations.

System Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the EMR system.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to gather feedback and implement system improvements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to EMR systems.

Project Management:

  • Lead or participate in EMR-related projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and integrations with other healthcare systems.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external partners as necessary.

Additional Information:

The initial probationary period is three months.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Work Environment: Office setting within a healthcare facility, potentially requiring some evening or weekend work for system updates.
