Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced staff accountant to join our team. As a staff accountant, you will play a key role in providing financial services to our clients. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Communicating with clients and firm associates in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Establishing and maintaining effective client relationships through regular communications
  • Adhering to prescribed budgets and deadlines
  • Developing technical expertise and providing assistance to clients
  • Participating in continuing professional education programs
  • Serving as a trusted business advisor for clients and associates
  • Proactively identifying improvement opportunities in processes to enhance efficiency
  • Using data analysis skills to discover useful information and patterns to provide support in recommendations

Responsibilities

As a staff accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns and projections in accordance with firm and professional standards
  • Understanding and effectively using current tax and accounting software applications
  • Researching tax-related issues and other related financial reports
  • Performing a limited number of tax return interviews as needed
  • Performing audit, review, and compliance testing procedures in accordance with firm and professional standards
  • Communicating with engagement managers regarding open items, testing problems, or other important matters
  • Preparing (or reviewing client-prepared) financial statements and footnotes, management reports, and other engagement outputs

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Above-average knowledge in accounting, as demonstrated by a college GPA; preferred 3.0 GPA or higher
  • CPA eligibility preferred
  • Months of job-related experience
  • An accounting internship experience preferred
  • Preferred coursework in Data Analytics or Big Data
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • Experience with accounting software is a plus
  • A high level of organization, focus, exceptional attention to detail, and strong follow-up skills
