Chicago Children's Museum is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for communicating policy and procedure to ensure accountability and proper performance of stewardship over our assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process transactional accounting data for assigned areas of responsibility, including accounts payable, payroll, cash management, cash receipts, and petty cash.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and account analyses to ensure proper accountability and internal control of our assets.
  • Perform monthly close procedures to provide management with our financial results on a monthly basis.
  • Provide internal and external customers with accounting support, including reports, analyses, and manpower.
  • Support our museum's work in diversity, equity, access, and inclusion, and actively ensure that DEAI principles are upheld in all work with fellow staff, visitors, community, and other external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with new skills and technologies, and participate in training and certification programs to enhance your knowledge and expertise.
