Job Description

Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of inclusive education strategies to support students with disabilities and additional needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality support and accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organizations to access resources and expertise in inclusive education.
  • Provide professional learning and coaching to teachers and support staff on inclusive education practices and strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's inclusion and diversity policy.
  • Lead the school's Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) process, including identification of eligible students and preparation of applications for funding and support.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations and aspirations for students with disabilities and additional needs.
  • Provide leadership and support to students, parents, and staff in creating and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Work with teachers and support staff to ensure that learning tasks are adjusted and delivery of content is in line with the requirements documented in IEPs.
  • Build staff capacity to understand and implement evidence-based teaching and learning strategies to support all student learning, including students with additional needs.
  • Lead the team of Integration Aides to maximize support for students with additional needs.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for school council consideration and contribute to the overall leadership and management of the school.

Requirements

Applicants must be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

The successful applicant will also be expected to take a classroom teaching allotment.
