Maintenance Technician

Position Overview:

The primary responsibilities of this role encompass utilizing validated mechanical, technical, and communication skills to ensure a safe, reliable, and comfortable healthcare environment. This position involves executing daily corrective and preventative maintenance tasks while remaining informed about current technological advancements to enhance patient care. The technician will leverage their experience to pursue healthcare certification and will perform tasks under supervision or as directed. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

(25%)* Conduct plumbing and pipe fitting tasks in accordance with applicable standards based on experience. This includes:

  • Replacing worn or damaged pipes, fittings, and fixtures in compliance with codes.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing waste lines and filters, as well as installing plumbing fixtures.
  • Servicing and adjusting water softeners and domestic hot and cold water systems.
  • Monitoring and repairing medical gas systems and their components.
  • Responding to plumbing emergencies promptly.

(25%)* Execute rough and finish carpentry tasks as part of work requests or renovation projects, including:

  • Performing rough carpentry according to industry standards.
  • Building and repairing cabinets, shelves, and work surfaces.
  • Installing and repairing doors, windows, and ceilings.
  • Hanging, taping, and finishing drywall, along with associated repairs and painting.
  • Conducting general masonry repairs.

(25%)* Uphold safety standards and work independently to protect self, colleagues, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with fire safety training for hospital personnel.
  • Participating in hazardous waste programs and acting responsibly in all job aspects.
  • Striving for professional advancement through various learning opportunities.
  • Completing assigned work independently.

(25%)* Ensure facility security by:

  • Responding to emergency conditions and taking leadership roles as needed.
  • Managing door locking schedules and observing parking lot activities.

Additional Duties:

Perform general facility maintenance to maintain the physical, mechanical, and environmental integrity of the facility, including:

  • Troubleshooting and servicing patient room accessories and equipment.
  • Maintaining dietary, laundry, housekeeping, and office equipment.
  • Reviewing manufacturer specifications for equipment and recommending parts orders or repairs.
  • Assisting outside service personnel with installations and maintenance.
  • Conducting scheduled inspections on various equipment and fire protection features.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions or equipment failures immediately.

Basic Electrical Services:

Fulfill safety and convenience requirements by:

  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems.
  • Installing wiring under the supervision of a licensed electrician.
  • Testing and performing minor maintenance on emergency systems.

New Equipment Installation:

Review manufacturer requirements to modify existing services using various skills from provided drawings and specifications.
